5-28-02 YAHOO!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!!! Hello everyone: I just wanted to let you all know just how well we did this year at the 33rd Annual Bishop Mule Days. (drum roll please..............) Gate Farm's Simply Irresistible -AKA- Ewok, took 1st Place in the 2 Year Old Jack Class AND Gate Farm's Black Tie Affair -AKA- Ace, took 2nd Place in the 2 Year Old Jack Class Which was excellent! and we were thrilled! And again they were they youngest, smallest and the only large standard jacks in the class. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better than that....... Gate Farm's Simply Irresistible -AKA- "Ewok" also took RESERVE WORLD CHAMPION JACK !!!It was a great day for Spotted Donkeys every where:) According to everyone I've asked in the Show Office and long timers who've been around for years this is the only time a Spotted Jack has received a 1st place in their class and the only time that anyone knows of where a Spotted Jack has received a World Champion title. So if anyone out there knows of another Spotted Jack who has earned these placements please let me know cause I'm trying to find out and verify if "Ewok" is indeed the very first and only Spotted Jack to received these prestigious awards. We took pictures of the boys and their ribbons and of course "Ewok" with his trophy and doing his now famous "bow" in front of the grandstand and cheering crowd. So as soon as they get back from being developed and Gramma Leslie scans them in I'll post them for all to see. Well gotta go check on our little super stars. Take care, TTYL, Trish Hi Ho, Hi Ho it's off to the 2002
Bishop Show we go!! We're now 2 year old and they say there's going to be
some stiff competition at Bishop. Hello everyone: Well another winter has come and gone and show season has begun here in Southern California. The boys have been bathed and clipped and are ready to rock and roll. They went to their first show of the season on March 10th and if it’s any indication of things to come 2002 will be a very good year. These two little super stars are continuing to beat out older and much larger horses, mules and donkeys. So size isn’t everything, but great conformation is! So whoever thinks large standard jacks can’t compete with the big boys is WRONG. Not only are these boys competing, but they are consistently in the ribbons and WINNING ! So if you have a desire to be in the winners circle and want a little super star of your own you can still get a date with their daddy or maybe, just maybe, find one of their brothers or sisters for sale. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s Off To Bishop For Mule Days 2002 We Go! Well it’s January 14, 2002 already and these two boys have been taking a well-deserved vacation from the show ring. In case you’re wondering just how much they’ve grown here is their height and weight measurements as of today. Ace
: at 19 ½ months old he is now 49 ½
inches tall and 487 lbs. Ewok:
at 17 ½ months old he is now 47 ½ inches tall and 460 lbs. And
STILL GROWING! And
YES these two fine young jacks will be at Mule Days 2002 in Bishop, CA. So
if you missed seeing them last year at Mule Days please stop by and say
“Hi” and take a look for yourself to see what all the fuss is about.
These two exceptional jacks will not stand to the public until they have
completed their riding and driving education and of course racked up even
more Halter wins. BUT you can still get a date with their father Diamond C
Montana Jack the jack of all jacks. So don’t delay book your mare today,
and you too will be racking up the Blues! And now "Ewok's" spots have turned BLACK.... A note from Leslie and "Montana": We are so proud of Trish and Terry Geer, and their "Montana" sons', "Gate Farms Simply Irresistible" AKA "Ewok" and "Gate Farms Black Tie Affair" AKA "Ace". Here they are at Bishop, CA knocking them dead. First in Yearling Jacks to Halter went to "Ace" and third went to "Ewok". And they are for sure following in their fathers hoofprints.......Click on pictures to enlarge. Well I decided showing in the Yearling Halter class with 12 to 20 Quarter Horses and Paints on steroids and already 15+ hands tall and well over 1100 lbs. wasn't exactly in the best interest of the boys. So I went and talked to the Show manager who said because they are "intact" males we can go ahead and show in the Stallion class as we want to. Boy was I glad I did LOL (cha ching,
cha ching, cha ching ,
points, points and even more points)
The 3 mules that beat us in
the Mule and Donkey Halter class are all previous multiple World
Championship Winners for their classes in Bishop. So hey not to shabby. Now
I'm gonna see if we can rack up enough points between now and the end of the
year to earn the Year End High Point Halter Stallion Award. Got to sit down
and figure up all their points from the last 3 shows. I do believe they just
might have the 250 they each need for their Versatility Hall of Fame Awards
through ADMS. So L if you haven't sent in the Merit of Breeding Award paper
work for Montana let me know cause I want to be sure they have it before I
send in my paperwork so he gets his Award too. Well gotta go tally points:)
Oh ya I'm starting to like those long lavendar Champion Ribbons a lot. Take
care, TTYL, Trish P.S. Oh yes and turned down yet another 2 breedings at the
show on Sunday LOL Yep, these little guys are their own walking, braying,
advertisement flyer LOL
Hi Everyone:
I just received a letter
yesterday from the Mule Days Show Committee advising me that there had been
an error/mistake in Class Placements for Class 131 Yearling-Jacks Halter. So
you know I just had to tell everyone that might be interested.
The rightful First Place
winner of Class 131 Yearling-Jacks Halter is Number 291 Gate Farm's Black
Tie Affair owned and shown by Terry Geer and Fourth Place goes to
Number 292 Gate Farm's Simply Irresistible owned and shown by Trish Geer.
It's too bad they could not
have found the error and made the correction while we were all still
there. It would have been really nice to bask in all the glory and share the
moment with family and friends. But even so, the boys got more than their
fair share of all the attention. And even though I kicked and screamed about
the butt ugly character on their stupid bumper stickers they still came
forward to make right, a wrong, so I must give them credit for doing the
right thing.
Talk about them being crowd
favorites. Yesterday while being State Licensed and Certified for the
Microchip Implant procedure the California Veterinary
Association/American Veterinary Association Representative asked me if by
chance these two donkeys were the ones being shown at Lake Perris and Mira
Loma. I told her "yes" they were, and asked her how did she
know about them? Well it seems her sister-in-law who shows Quarter Horses
locally has been telling her about these two long earred wonders for several
months now and she had been after her to come on out to a show so she could
see them for herself. LOL Well Anna was soooo impressed with Ace and Ewok
. Not to mention that she also took lots and lots of
pictures of them to put in their newsletter to all the veterinarians! And if
the pictures turn out good enough you may even be seeing these longears on
their brochures and flyers! Yep, strike up another one for the two little
long earred WV super stars! Gee, do you think it's too early to sign them up
with their own Hollywood Casting Agent?? TTYL, Trish
NEWS
FLASH! Well
we have exceeded the number of required points to earn our Versatility Hall of
Fame Award through the ADMS on both Ace and Ewok. So now their proper names
will be: Gate
Farm's Simply Irresistible HOF We are going to continue to show and rack up even more points towards the Versatility Hall of Fame Honor Roll Certificates for yet even more Awards and popularity and yes even doing it against horses! Last weekend Ewok took 1st Place in the Stallion Halter Class and Ace took 2nd. And yes they did beat out the horses in the class. Ewok even went Grand Champion Stallion and Ace went Reserve Grand Champion Stallion! You can check out their current show stats on Leslie's website and we'll post their pictures from Bishop Mule Days as soon as I get their pictures over to Leslie and she can scan them in. Of course we'll be taking pictures with our Versatility Hall of Fame Trophies as soon as they arrive and I promise to get the pictures over to Leslie so we can get them scanned and up on the website ASAP for all to enjoy. Well gotta go tuck in my super stars for the night. Take care, TTYL, TNT (Trish)
Both of these fine babies have
been enrolled into the ADMS Versatility Hall of Fame Award Program and in just
two short months both have earned half the points needed for their awards.
So....Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To Mule Days In
Bishop We Go!
So who ever thinks it's only
the HEIGHT of a jack
is all that matters when
making long earred babies is definitely WRONG! The proof is in his
progeny,
the strength of his genes and the ability to pass
it on.
So don't let the SIZE of a jack
cloud your opinion,
check out all the facts before
making your BIG decision.
Ace weighs - 302 lbs.
and is currently 48" tall, yes forty eight inches tall at 10 months old!
That means he is already as tall as his mother, Sweetie, and still
growing!
Ewok weighs - 280
lbs. and is currently 45 3/4" tall, still just a tad over two
inches shorter than his brother. But then again he is only 8 months old. So in
a few more months he too will be as tall as his mother.
NEXT STOP
-
"We didn't expect them to bring home any ribbons
having to compete against horses and all but hey we did manage to come home
with a few."
Knock knock
Who's there?
Boo, Hew
Boo, Hew, Who?
Another Paint horse
owner gets beat by a donkey and cries about it!
"
On to Page two more awards and and show results :)............
