I've got my Ear on you!

Our newest edition of Oct 2000 is the kind of
personality we require in our jennets! Easy going and very tolerant!
We were extremely delighted to learn Mable is rideable! She took this all
in fun with her adopted charge never far from her side. Being an older
jennet we sure didn't know what she had be trained to do. But as you see
she took it all in great stride. She was bred to Montana for the first
time the last week in Oct of 2000. Keep checking to see her new foal next
year. :)

A poem by Samuel Clemens about the Ass.

For
anyone who owns a donkey you'll understand the meaning of this one.

Please Don't Rope Me Anymore
Many donkeys have the terrible fate of being used as "roping
donkeys" to help a cow horse rate a calf. This so called
"sport" MUST be stopped. Our longeared friends deserve better
treatment than this.
Please Don't Rope Me AnymoreŠ
Each night when I lay down to rest
Is when I feel the pain the worst.
And sometimes I pray I'll never wake up.
Because the pain-it hurts it hurts!
Please don't rope me anymore.
But I know in the morning you'll come to get me.
And I know what the day will bring.
You want me to run and so I will
But the rope-how it stings it stings!
Please don't rope me anymore
If only I could speak to you
With words to make you see
I know that you would understand
How hard my life can be.
Please don't rope me anymore.
For I'm a gentle creature
And it always has been so.
They trusted me to carry Mary
A long long time ago.
Please don't rope me anymore.
I carried her with dignity.
Such a precious load I did bear.
And our Savior chose to ride me too
And treated me with great care.
Please don't rope me anymore.
If you look into my eyes
My gentleness it will show.
You'll see pain and anguish there
But a spark inside still glows.
Please don't rope me anymore.
For I believe that you are good
And someday you will see
All the pain that's in my eyes
And how you can set it free.
Please don't rope me anymore
If I could speak just once to you
With words you'd understand
I'd ask that you'd reach out to me
And touch me with gentle hands.
Please don't rope me anymore.
We donkeys are a gentle lot.
We love people but before
I can truly show you my big heart
Please don't rope me anymore.
