NEW MAIL
HELP
As
of June 5th, 2001 we have moved to a new mail
system! This system is designed to give webmail
capabilities to all of our clients, as well as
implementing the newest and best in anti-spam
technologies.
Below
is a short, comprehensive guide on how to setup
your new mail accounts with Microsoft(tm)
Outlook Express. If you are a hosting customer,
the mail server 'mail.usipp.net' may be
substituted with your own server name, but the
rest applies as well.
SETTING
UP A NEW MAIL PASSWORD
Before
you can use your new mail address, you will have
to change your email password. You can do this
by following these directions:
1. Point your favorite browser to:
http://qmail.usipp.net
2. under the 'login' field, enter
in your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS
(i.e: user@usipp.net), under the password field,
enter in 'password'. PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS
THE ACTUAL WORD PASSWORD!
3. Once you have been logged into
the webmail system, Select the 'Preferences'
Option to the left.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the
screen and enter in the appropriate information to
change your password. under the OLD password
field, please enter in, 'password'. PLEASE
NOTE, THIS IS THE ACTUAL WORD PASSWORD!
5. Click on the 'Change Password'
Button, and then the 'Log out' link in the navbox
to the left.
6. Your account has now been
enabled with the new password!
SETTING UP OUTLOOK EXPRESS
1. Open Microsoft(tm) Outlook
Express by clicking on
Start->Programs->Outlook Express.
2. After Outlook loads, go to the
tools menu and select the 'Accounts' option.
3. You should see a window
like this. You will need to remove your old
account. Highlight your usipp.net account and
select the 'Remove' button on the right. When
prompted, please click on 'Ok'.
4. The mail account dialog should
now have your old usipp.net
account removed. To setup a new account,
please select the 'Add' button on the right, and
choose the 'Mail' option.
5. Enter how
you would like you name to be displayed, and
click on the 'Next >' button.
6. Select the first option and enter
your email address in the form of
'user@usipp.net' and click on the 'Next >'
button.
7. You should see a window
like this. Select the option 'POP3' in the
incoming server selection box, and enter 'qmail.usipp.net'
in both the incoming and outgoing mail server text
fields. Click on the 'Next >' button.
8. You should see the 'Internet
Mail Logon' dialog. Under the 'Account Name'
field, please enter in your FULL
EMAIL ADDRESS, (i.e: user@usipp.net).
In the password field, enter in your password as
normal and click on the 'Next >' button. Click
on the 'Finish' button to finish your account
creation.
9. You should now have a
entry in the accounts dialog.
IMPORTANT!
DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO
SEND MAIL!
10. Double click on the account
name you just created to view its properties. Select
the 'Servers' tab at the top. Near the bottom
there is a check box named 'My server requires
authentication'. The 'Settings' button should now
be enabled.
11. Click on the 'Settings'
button, the 'Outgoing mail
server' dialog should appear on your screen.
Check to be sure that the 'use the same settings
as my incoming mail server' is selected. Click on
'Ok' when done.
12. Click on 'Apply' then 'Ok' to
close the properties dialog. Now click close to
close the 'Accounts' Dialog.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR MAIL IS
NOW SETUP!
